Karen grew up in Portland and has been deeply involved in the Jewish community. She served on the board of Cedar Sinai Park and as a member of the development committee; she continues to visit the campus regularly to see friends and check on the gardens her mother tended to for decades. Karen is currently a board member of the Eastside Jewish Commons. Her professional career included grant administration, fundraising, and community engagement in the nonprofit and public sectors. She and her spouse Dvora live in Southeast Portland and enjoy spending time with family and friends, and exploring the world on foot and by bike.
